Abstract

A modified Warburg-type manometric vessel designed for simultaneous measurement of oxygen uptake and C14O2 evolution by incubated tissue samples is described. The bottom of the center well of the vessel has been rounded to permit quantitative removal of viscous alkalies used to trap CO2, and a wide-mouthed port has been added which is sealed by a rubber stopper and aluminum crimped sealer and through which various additions to or removals from the various interior compartments of the vessel can be made. Calibration data and various potential uses are described.
